 As a Network Engineer, you will work on cutting edge network design and operations to support various customers within Health Solutions, responsible for providing engineering expertise for complex multi-service networking.
This position is an excellent opportunity to learn, grow, and be a part of a first class organization working on complex, leading edge network technology. As a network engineer, you will be responsible for engineering, supporting the network design, and the deployment and operations for a large government customer located in Woodlawn, Maryland. There will be emphasis on implementing field installations and upgrades for nationwide deployments. This position may require from 10% to 45% travel to various domestic customer locations.
 
 Network Engineers will report to Project Managers and Service Delivery Managers.
 
 Specific responsibilities may include:
- Surveys network requirements of remote field offices and campus building. Define equipment, cables, adapters and configurations needed to upgrade buildings and sites to established network standard.

- Responsible for the design improvement, operation, and maintenance of the Network Admission Control (NAC) system for use on WLAN and Virtual Private Networking (VPN) access.
- Analyze current network configurations and determine implementation requirements.
- Negotiate installation date/time with customer and engage field installation contractors. Assemble required equipment, cables, adapters, etc. and arrange delivery to site for installation.
- Prepare network equipment for deployment by loading appropriate software and configuration setting according to pre-engineered design templates.

- Upgrade configuration of existing network equipment to support new features and functions.
- Manage field installation contractors while they are on-site and provide all technical details to complete installations.
- Continually review customer’s network and practices looking for opportunities to enhance network functionally, performance and reliability.
- Assist in the evaluation of potential network products or technical solutions. Test LAN/WAN equipment and software (i.e.:IOS, CatOS)
- Contribute to the development of network documentation, including diagrams, standards, specifications and operating procedures.
- Monitor for opportunities to enhance the customer’s network/system performance or reliability.
- Monitor for opportunities to improve the customer’s service delivery practices.
- Perform on-going management of network installation and upgrade projects. Maintain deployment schedules. Provide guidance to team members. Provide status metrics to Government customer and Northrop Grumman management.
- Provide third-level support and troubleshooting of network problems. Periodically provide after-hours and weekend support.
- Maintain and extend expertise in applicable areas of network and computer hardware and software technology.
 Basic Qualifications: 
Minimum knowledge, skills, abilities needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree with 3-4 years of computer network or field technician experience or Master’s Degree with 1-2 year of data communication networking experience
- Cisco certifications - Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) required.
- 1-2 year knowledge of Local Area Network technologies such as Ethernet, wireless LAN as well as the physical media and equipment associated with each.
- 1-2 year Knowledge of IP routing protocols and implementations - Must be a US Citizen or Permanent US Resident (Green Card holder) - Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
 
Preferred Qualifications: 
- Good written and communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Prior hands on experience with Cisco networks with basic Cisco router and switches configuration.
