    Duties Summary

    About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (DFMWR), Army Community Services (ACS), Fort Campbell, KY. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN about 45 miles NW of Nashville. Both visitors & residents enjoy the shops & eateries of downtown Hopkinsville & Clarksville. The cost of living is lower than the average for all major U.S. cities.


    Responsibilities
    • Contacts referral agencies when the problem(s) requires immediate attention within the necessary time frame and follows up with agencies to ensure clients have received the proper services.
    • Providing an integrated system of service delivery which links clients with available and appropriate resources at the lowest cost and without duplication of effort.
    • Responsible for managing the property accountability taking necessary action to assure proper care, custody and use of property and the maintenance of appropriate property records.
    • Provides Army Community Service (ACS) services to include client intake, information and referral, crisis intervention, life skills, and transition service.
    • Serves as Army Community Service (ACS) Multi-Functional Specialist assisting with assessing, tailoring and prioritizing Army Community Service (ACS) service delivery in support of local military and family needs.
    • Manage the Installation Lending Closet to include resourcing, accountability, and operation.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.     Basic Requirement for Army Community Services Specialist:

    A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

    OR

    B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

    OR

    C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

    In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

    Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Provide relocation information and services to military and/or civilians AND 2) Assist with conducting newcomer orientation briefings to service members and/or family members. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

    OR

    Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as behavioral or social sciences degrees.

    OR

    Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

    Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

    Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade, time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

    NOTE: To support the Advancement requirement you MUST submit a copy of your latest non-award SF-50 that reflects your highest grade held on a permanent basis along with your application/resume package. You must meet the one year time-in-grade requirement so you will need to provide an SF-50 which clearly demonstrates you meet the time-in-grade requirements. Failure to do so may affect your rating or consideration for employment. Education
