    Duties Summary

    You will serve as a EQUAL EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST in the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Office, Special Staff Section of MARINE CORPS BASE.


    Responsibilities
    • You will conduct pre-complaint counseling with employees, applicants and former employees, inquiring into the specific incidents and activities identified by the aggrieved person.
    • You will interview witnesses (including management officials and advise all participants of their rights and responsibilities in the process.
    • You will conduct final interview, providing basic findings to the aggrieved person and giving them their notification of a right to file a formal complaint of discrimination if the matter has not been resolved at the end of the counseling process.
    • You will be responsible for studying, developing and distributing, to the workforce and fellow staff members, educational materials related to the culture and challenges of assigned constituency.
    • You will be prepare various statistical reports on complaint status and timeliness, predominate bases and issues raised, and other aspects of EEO complaint processing.

    • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
    • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
    • Must be able to complete the Basic EEO Counselor Course with in 12 months of entrance of duty.
    • Work require the employee to drive a vehicle and be willing to operate a government owned van/car. A vailid driver's license is required
    • The incumbent will be required to travel 10% of the time and wear professional attire daily.
    • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
    • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
    Qualifications

    GS-09: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: monitoring assigned program activities, reviewing personnel EEO administration policies, assisting with advisory services on EEO complaints and counseling, identifying trends and problems, and making recommendations for solutions.


    GS-07: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: assisting with the administration of the EEO program with compiling, reporting, and fact-finding resolutions to EEO complaint processing systems.

    GS-09:
    Successfully completed a Master's Degree or equivalent graduate degree
    OR
    Successfully completed 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

    Successfully completed LL.B. or J.D., if related
    OR
    Have a combination of specialized experience and education that equates to one year of experience.


    GS-07:
    Successfully completed 1 full year of graduate level education

    Successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement
