About the Role – Software Engineering Manager
This position reports to the Director of Engineering and collaborates with other engineering managers as well as other departments to achieve company objectives. This position is accountable for effective planning, staffing, supervision, processes and technical direction of engineering activities for the software engineering group. This position may also require occasionally serving as a leader on a limited number of key projects. The position often interfaces with customer and partner technical peers. Specific Responsibilities
  • Develop and mentor software staff to meet project and customer needs.
  • Deploy staff and evaluate performance to ensure successful bid and execution of software work on new and existing projects.
  • Develop and review estimates for proposed and existing software work.
  • Specify and create appropriate software development environments and standard practices including tools and processes.
  • Lead internal and external teams to generate software development plans to encompass requirements development, coding, verification, safety, reliability, and maintainability for real-time embedded systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement and compliance with L3 engineering process.
  • Execute tasks according to an agreed upon commitment for schedule and budget.

Qualifications Required Experience, Skills and Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Software, Computer or Electrical Engineering with software concentration.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience managing a software group, mentoring staff and driving process improvement.
  • Experience in formal software development practices including IEEE or military standards.
  • Experience in real-time, embedded systems.
  • Due to the nature of our work as a DoD contractor, all applicants must be US Citizens.
