Title: Principal Hardware Engineer (Electrical)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Job Summary
The Hardware Engineer is responsible for the design and commercialization of electrical hardware needed to realize medical device products and accessories within Client’s Personal Care division.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop embedded system based electrical hardware for class II medical devices; MCU support, sensor SoCs, analog signal conditioning, significant noise immunity
  • Support development of power electronics and power supply designs
  • Schematic, PCB layout, and BOM creation. Closely collaborate with mechanical engineers on PCB integration into products
  • Lead hardware side of regulatory agency testing efforts; safety and EMC
  • Closely collaborate with software engineers on firmware design, algorithms, interfaces, and documentation
  • Debug and troubleshoot product throughout the development cycle, proposing and developing improvements in overall design
  • Create hardware product specifications, test plans, and verification methods for design and production
  • Conduct hardware-level and system-level testing and verification
  • Support initialization of mass production with Asia based contract manufacturers.
Education and Experience Profile
BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution Minimum of 10 years’ experience in product development engineering
Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer, SVNDBLIB based collaboration experience preferred
  • Previous small medical device electrical design experience, IEC 60601, IEC 60335
  • Previous power electronics design experience
  • Proficiency with basic EE tools (Oscilloscopes, Network analyzers, Signal Generators etc.).
  • Proficiency in a procedural programming language such as Python or C[++,#].
  • Experience managing projects from concept to manufacturing
  • Experience in enterprise resource management and version control tools such as Arena and SVN/git
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor as well as interact with cross-functional teams
